PGM does not support alpha transparency. Transparent XCF areas must be flattened onto a background color.
Animated, sequence, or multipage inputs need explicit frame/page handling.
Converting XCF to PGM decodes the source image and writes a PGM output. Use this route when PGM is a better fit for compatibility, file size, editing, or delivery.
Quality behavior depends on PGM compression: uncompressed.
